Today's Spell, Potion, Powder ~ Florida Water

Does anyone need a recipe to make their own Florida Water? Yes?… Well, here it is:

  • Two cups of vodka or any alcohol of your preference
  • Two tablespoon of orange flower water
  • 6 drops of essential oil of bergamot
  • 6 drops of essential oil of rosemary
  • 6 drops of essential oil of lavender
  • 6 drops of essential oil of rose attar
  • 3 drops of essential oil of sage
  • 2 drops of essential oil of neroli

Mix all of these ingredients together and let it sit for a couple days. Note that you can adjust any of the essential oils, strength-wise, to attain a scent that is to your liking.

If there’s anyone reading this who doesn’t know what Florida Water is used for, it’s mainly for cleansing and protection, but there are other uses I’m going to list below. There is a company who produces a marketable brand of Florida Water, and you can find them online easy. (So I’m going to be lazy and not go searching for it right now.)

Here’s a list of uses for you, but that’s not saying that some of you might not think of a few new ways to use Florida Water:

1. Cleanse your house by adding salt and Florida Water to a bucket of water and mop the floors.2. Cleanse your magical items and crystals with a cloth and Florida Water.

3. Cleanse your altar and your magical space before casting a circle.

4. Provide it as a thank you gift to the deities or energies you’re working with.

5. Use it in your bath by adding a few drops in the water to cleanse your aura and rejuvenate the senses.

6. Put Florida Water in your palms and clap them to raise vibrations and to give you a quick energy boost.

7. It can be used in your rooms for a Happy Home and to combat melancholy and depression.

8. Florida Water can replace Holy water in magical practices and rituals.

9. Add Florida Water and Van Van oil together in order to attract better clientele.

10. Use it to dress candles for magical spells and rituals for Protection, Communication with Spirits, Cleansing and Breaking Hexes, and to remove malevolent magic.

11. Add a few drops to a bottle of ink and use it to empower your written petitions.

Hello, Monday! Book of the week ~ "Natural Magick the Gray Witch Way"

Before I started writing this book, Natural Magick the Gray Witch Way, I had just finished and sent off for publication, "The Gray Witch's Grimoire".  On completion of the "Natural Magick..." manuscript, I thought to myself, "Damn, I should have combined these two books for one great big fat volume."  But I didn't, and I don't know if that can be rectified someday, or whether it's too late.  We'll see.  However, these two books together make great companions, as they are two separate books pining to be one:

[Excerpt, from Forms of Magick, page 13]

Sympathetic Magick

This is that.

  • A specific object is chosen to represent the target of a spell. Through sympathetic magick, this object actually ‘becomes’ the target. Whatever happens to this object, happens to the target.

The most common form of this magick, and the one I have personally used the most, are poppets-- those infamous dollies of hoodoo fame. A poppet does not just represent the

target, it actually becomes the target, with the addition of personal items and effects belonging to the subject, secret rituals to breathe it to life, and the movement of magical energy to manifest and transform the very being of this cloth creation into the flesh and blood essence of your target. This is why it’s so important to keep these poppets in secure safe locations.

Comparative Magick

·       A relationship and connection between a magickal object or objective are associated with and represented by a specific item or items.

A good example of this type of magick would be the Witches’ Bottle. Say for instance that you want to create a bottle to draw money and wealth. You would add to this bottle a number of items, all designed to draw the energy of money and wealth to the bottle, and thus to you. These items would include coins and paper money, herbs for wealth and prosperity, stones, and personal talismans. This bottle is, in effect, representative of your desires and your objective, which is to draw money to yourself. And it will do just that.

Directive Magick

This affects that.

·       This magick raises energy while the practitioner focuses and visualizes their goal and uses an item or items to move this energy toward manifestation.

The most common form of this magick, and the easiest to work, is candle magick. The candle is imbued with the energy of your goal by carving various symbols and sigils upon it, dressing it with oils and rolling it in herbs that carry the energy of your intentions. As the candle is consumed by the flame, you will maintain a visualization of the end results of this spell, so your goals and intentions are sent out into the universe and the cosmos with lightning speed and absolute assurance of magickal manifestation.

Transference Magick

·       Transference magick moves a malevolent energy out of one object or individual and into something or someone else.

The mildest example of this type of magick would be protective magick utilized to block negative energy or to send it back to its source. A more intense form of Transference Magick would be an exorcism; and the most extreme form would be a hex or a curse.

[Excerpt from The Infamous Vacuum, page 20]

The Infamous Vacuum

The rule is-- if you empty a space, creating a vacuum, something else will fill this space. This is true not only from a magickal perspective, but from a mundane vantage point as well-- it’s called physics. The thing is that once you’ve emptied this space, i.e. banishing something/someone, you have no control over what is going to fill this vacuum which you have created.

I learned this pointedly through an interesting lesson.

We used to have a neighbor who lived behind us, a rather unusual elderly man whose behavior was becoming consistently more erratic as time went on. Until we put a fence up between our properties, he would set his self-propelled tractor sprinkler in the middle of our basketball court as it’s starting point. My children didn’t like this and neither did I. If I wanted to water my lawn, I was perfectly capable of doing it myself. He was a cross-dresser, which is really beside the point, but its an intriguing fact that I’m going to toss in anyway. I remember many a morning, up early for my first cup of coffee, I’d step out onto the back porch, and there was this man, his garage lit up like a circus, just climbing into his car wearing a white skirt, a red sweater and heels to match. He was off to the local café for breakfast.

It was when he began mowing his lawn in nothing but briefs and tennis shoes that I became concerned. “Briefs” is a generous description for what he wore. Let’s say that there was just enough material to cover the necessities-- barely. My girls were younger at the time, and I really didn’t feel that they needed this show, and neither did they, it was a little too much.

I decided that it was time for this man to take a hike. So, I rolled up my sleeves, put a whopping banishing spell together, and gave this guy a magickal punch to his mid-section. Within a moon phase, he was gone.

I was feeling quite pleased with my big old powerful witchy self, when I came through the kitchen one morning to find my husband standing at the backdoor, his nose pressed to the glass, peering over the fence, into the ex-neighbor’s back yard.

“What are you looking at?”, I asked.

“The new neighbor.” he says.

I wanted to see what was capturing his attention, so I took a look myself. There in the backyard, bouncing merrily along on a huge riding mower, was a very petite gorgeous tanned blonde woman in a very tiny pink bikini.

Magickal Oils, Potions, n' Powders ~ What they are, and how to use them

  • Health & Healing Oil

This ointment is used to “dress” candles used for healing or to maintain continued good health. Anoint a green candle with this oil for healing of the body; a yellow candle for healing of the mind; a red candle for the physical healing of the reproductive system– a yellow candle can be burned along with the red one for mental healing of sexual abuse victims.

  • Exorcism/Purification Oil

Anoint a black candle with this oil to exorcise those demons that are bothering you– whether the irritation is physical or mental. Anoint a white candle with this oil and burn it to purify your physical space or your mental/physical state. I’ve used this oil to exorcise entities haunting my home, and I’ve used it to exorcise people from my life who were causing problems.

  • Mars Astrological Oil

This ointment promotes courage, strength, aggression, sexual energy, healing after surgery, exorcisms, and defensive magick. I’ve found this to be an especially effective and strong magickal tool, and I want to caution you that this oil can also banish. Use it wisely.

  • Witches’ Oil

This is an “all purpose” oil which can be used to anoint the body prior to rituals or spell casting. It can also be used to dress candles.

  • Psychic Oil

Anoint your third eye chakra with this oil before doing divination of any kind, or anoint a lavender candle to call up and strengthen your psychic powers.

  • Sex Oil

Carve your name and the name of the one you desire on a red candle; anoint it with this oil to ignite passion and lust. Then stand back and be prepared for some fireworks! This oil can be made to accommodate a monogamous couple, instilled with herbs to maintain fidelity.

  • Prosperity Oil

This oil is used to anoint candles for money magick. It can also be used to anoint stones conducive to wealth and prosperity and carried in your purse or wallet. It will enhance and draw the energies that stimulate the acquisition of money in many ways.

  • Summoning Powder

This powder does just what its name suggests– it summons someone to you. If you are in possession of a piece of clothing belonging to the individual you wish to summon, particularly intimate apparel, sprinkle it with this powder. You can also sprinkle this powder on a piece of correspondence you send to this person– although in this day and age of terrorism, I would be cautious about sending anything through the mail that has a powdery dust on it.

  • Black Cat Oil

Black Cat Oil is used to break bad spells and hexes, to attract the opposite sex, and to call in the spirits– benevolent, magickally oriented spirits. This oil will also reverse your luck and draw in positive energy, it's often called "The Gambler's Oil". The ingredients in black cat oil is slightly different to attract the opposite sex.

  • Four Thieves Vinegar

Four Thieves Vinegar is a crucial component in many banishing and commanding spells. It can also be used to banish illness. It’s reputed to drive away danger and rescue its user from disaster.

  • Graveyard Dirt

This item is exactly what its name implies– soil taken from the consecrated ground of a cemetery. Graveyard dirt is a necessary ingredient in many hexing/cursing spells. On the flip side, it is also the key ingredient in many benevolent spells, including those for health and healing.

  • Banishing Oil

Banishing oils are generally used in banishing spells, whether you’re trying to rid yourself of undesirable people, situations, habits, or things. Just make sure that what you think you want banished, you really do– getting something back is much more work than making something go away.

  • Command & Compel Oil

“Commanding Oil” is generally used in binding spells– to get another to bend to your will and do what you want and to gain control of a situation. This oil has a strong history in voodoo and New Orleans hoodoo culture and is used almost exclusively to exert your will over others.

  • Uncrossing Oil

This oil is most often used to remove hexes/curses placed upon you. It’s also brought into service to turn bad luck around and is used in spells for just such results.

Warning:
These oils/potions/powders are NOT meant to be ingested! Most of these oils could be applied to the skin, but there may be an occasional potion that contains a skin irritant…so if in doubt, just don’t!
