Embrace Your Inner Goddess... really

The following are excerpts from my book "The Divine Me", a 2023 release that is available at Amazon.

[excerpt]

From the chapter: The Goddess in Every Day

• Saturday: let’s cleanse

Burn candles of black; burn incense of mimosa, hemp, and comfrey; carry in your pockets or adorn your body with black onyx, Apache tears, and obsidian.

Let’s work on… making ourselves feel safe, in whatever capacity this entails; taking extra precautions to secure our home; laying a line of defense against unexpected negativity; drawing boundaries that may be difficult but necessary to our wellbeing.

Kali ~ Hindu

Kali is the banshee screeching warrior goddess, the goddess of death and doom. The black goddess of revenge and bloodlust. But you gotta’ love her. It’s her energy that will fight to protect the innocent; it’s her energy that’s needed for retribution and accountability for the bad guys.

As the myth goes, Kali was born when she emerged from the forehead of the Goddess Durga and is believed to be the manifestation of that goddess’s anger. No wonder Kali has an attitude.

The most notable story I found on Kali involved her husband, Lord Shiva. After Kali was called upon to save the world by going on a rampage against a demon army led by Raktabija, she had herself so wrapped in murderous energy that she couldn’t stop herself and began destroying any living thing within her reach.

To cease this frenzied murder spree, her husband Shiva laid down in her path, blocking her way. Apparently, he thought that this would stop her. Silly idea. She was blinded to rationality and restraint, and she wildly started stomping the sh… er, bejeebers out of her own husband.

Oops.

Upon suddenly realizing her terrible mistake, overcome with remorse, laced with a wee bit of embarrassment, it’s said that she stuck out her bloody tongue. In some versions, it’s stated that she pulled her tongue out, either way, it makes for quite a visual.

From the chapter: Facing the Mirror ~ How Do You Connect with Yourself

• Be aware of changes in your energy

Yes, learn to do this. It could save your life.

I was at a stop light in Fremont, Nebraska, southbound on Broad St. I was driving, my now ex-husband was sitting in the passenger seat. All of the sudden, yep, there it was, that “change” in energy. It’s so hard to describe because it can be so subtle. My reaction to it was that I froze. The red light turned green, and still, I sat there, frozen. My ex was shouting at me now, “Move, go!! The light is green!”

Nope, my body wouldn’t budge.

Within seconds, a car went speeding through a red light in front of us, west bound on 23rd St., at 60 or 70 miles an hour. If I would’ve been making my left hand turn onto this street, it would have broadsided us.

After this vehicle whooshed through this intersection, yep, there it was again, that weird change in energy. I was no longer frozen. I was also miffed at the man in the passenger seat and his attitude, so I turned to him calmly as he sat there now in shocked silence, open-mouthed, and I said, “Okay, now it’s time to move.”

Tarot Flirts with Astrology ~ Where were you in July 2017?

It is always said that a tarot reading will be pertinent to you whenever you might stumble upon it and become privy to the information laid before you, and this is very true.  But it is also fascinating, and reconfirming, to look back on readings and see just how closely they played out in your life.

We'll do both with this post.

The following cards were drawn and read for each of the zodiac signs on July 9th, 2017.  Were they pertinent to you then?  Do they apply to you now?

  • Aquarius ~ 10/Swords (reversed)

There’s nothing worse than being nailed to the wall, other than being pinned down and cornered to do something you were hoping to get out of, or being called out on the rug to explain yourself or your actions– and this last one is going to be a spine tingling adrenalin rush experience for some of you Aquarians. This is always a difficult card when it rears it’s ugly head, and for many of you, you didn’t see this coming (until now). The best thing about this card is that it’s reversed. Many of you are going to claw your way out of an unpleasant confrontation, or situation, and find solid footing once more. Kiss the ground when you get there, and make sure this doesn’t happen again, do what you have to do, change what you have to change.

  • Capricorn ~ King/Swords (reversed)

Something is left unsaid. Communication is not happening, and it has to be resolved before it’s too late. There are reasons and ways in which things that need to be said, may never be heard. Make sure you have no regrets. Don’t be afraid of sounding silly, don’t be afraid to face disagreement, don’t be afraid to be wrong, don’t gloat if you are right. The words lay like a choking parcel of food caught in the throat. Don’t swallow them. Open your mouth and set them free, along with your conscience, your soul, and your peace of mind.

  • Pisces ~ 3/Swords

Some of you may face heartbreak or disappointment. Lessons are learned, wounds will heal. Life will pick you back up and carry you forward on your path, mercilessly marching you towards new horizons and experiences and awakenings. What we learn from heartbreak, pain, and sorrow is that it’s not the end, but only a pivotal point on our journey. Be strong, ride the waves, wait out the storm. Calm seas and peace await once the clouds have parted.

  • Aries ~ The Tower

Many of you are going to be called upon to endure great changes and disruptions in your life. For some it may be connected to relationships and family, for others it could be jobs and careers, and for still others it will be something unique to you and your personal experience, earth-shattering, life-changing. Oh, how we fight major life transitions, kicking and screaming our way through the storm, even when we know that things will be better when we reach the other side. Many of you Aries will be put to the test, stretched beyond your limits, tried by fire, tempered like steel. This is where you find out how strong you really are.

  • Taurus ~ Temperance (reversed)

This card is all about balance in our lives, and since it’s standing on it’s head for you, there’s a problem in this area. Many of you may find yourselves feeling up in the air, either overwhelmed with work, or not getting enough hours; some of you may be experiencing unexpected upsets with health issues, which so often kicks our lives out of balance on a variety of levels. You’re like a cat right now, Taurus, in free-fall. You’re going to have to figure out what you have to do to turn yourself around so that you land on your feet.

  • Gemini ~ Knight/Cups (reversed)

For some Gemini, the Knight-in-Shining Armor fairytale is going to remain a myth. For some of you this may mean that you have unrealistic expectations, and if you don’t lower the bar to a more human level, no one is going to pass the test, no one is going to be quite good enough. Developing a successful relationship with someone means that you learn to accept their very human flaws (This doesn’t mean that we “settle” for losers, which is the flip side of this coin.). It means that human beings aren’t perfect, and everyone has their own little quirks; and if we meet someone and fall in love, you learn to accept the WHOLE person, quirks included.

  • Cancer ~ 7/Cups (reversed)

Many of you Cancers will be making very important decisions during this period, and some of you will not be facing all the facts and may even be colorizing your choices and decisions with rosy glasses and less than a solid grip on reality. Be sure to honestly look at all the questions in order to find all the answers. Study the choices and brutally asses whether you can make them work in the real world. In order to have a successful game plan, you have to have a logical and realistic course of action. Now, go for it, Cancer!

  • Leo ~ 4/Pentacles (reversed)

Many of you Leos may have issues coming up that you’ll find rather challenging during this period, and some of these issues will involve relinquishing control (a horror scenario for strong and independent Leo). You may also be faced with unexpected financial circumstances that require substantial payments, which means breaking into savings, which means parting with your dearly beloved and precious golden coins. I know, Leo, you lovingly tend your growing nest egg and having to slice it open and remove a chunk is going to be difficult and unpleasant. Never fear, once this issue is resolved, life will resume as before.

  • Virgo ~ The Moon (reversed)

You will find yourself surrounded by deception. Either someone isn’t being honest with you, or you are not being honest with yourself. Some Virgos might feel that they’ve entered the twilight zone. There’s a very thin line between reality and fantasy, and when you find yourself in an extremely stressful unpleasant situation, it can make recognizing this line very difficult, which can make it dangerous on a variety of levels. During this time, seek out individuals, spiritual practices, or professionals to help you find the answers you need. It’s not a sign of weakness to seek help making right decisions, or getting through traumatic or challenging circumstances.

  • Libra ~ Princess/Pentacles

Messages and answers to financial issues will be forthcoming in a very timely manner. Some of you Libras will discover previously unknown facts, or knowledge, that will benefit upcoming decisions and will also shed light on circumstances, or people, surrounding you. Knowledge is power, the more you have, the stronger you’ll be. There’s s solitary flair about many of you Libras, intent on personal self-discovery, with a renewed interest in old and unfinished projects. Make your own kind of magic during this period.

  • Scorpio ~ 6/Pentacles

“The more the merrier” will be your mantra at this time, Scorpio. Where before there was not enough, now you will have a surplus. However, don’t let your guard down, don’t waste precious time or opportunities that come your way. Continue this forward progression with right action, solid common sense, determination, and a strong work ethic. It’s time for many Scorpios to climb the ladder to success. We so often talk about setting goals, but we so seldom stop and relish the accomplishment of meeting those goals. Do this, Scorpio.

  • Sagittarius ~ Knight/Pentacles

For some of you Sagittarians bouncing merrily through this year, you’re going to find yourself stopped short by the need for quiet practicality. Solid common sense, thorough and slow thought processes to work through an issue, are going to assure your happiness continues through 2017. Don’t be rushed into making any decisions. Remember, the show can’t go on until you say it does. The wonderful grounding aspect of this Knight will bode you well, reconnecting you to Earth energy and the solidity you need at this time.

How do you know you're where you're suppose to be?

1)  It feels right.  There's no second guessing here.  It feels so right that the possibility of any other scenario doesn't even enter your mind.

2)  You're not missing bigger better more lucrative or beneficial opportunities by being where you're at.  The universe is smiling on you, and the blessings you're receiving are three-fold.

3)  Other areas of your life will also be positively affected on a variety of levels.  This may either come as a pleasant surprise, or a given.

4)  There are positive affirmations coming in every day through people, occurrences, or other synchronistic events validating this fact.

5)  You don't keep wishing you were somewhere else doing something else.  You will experience the rewarding sensation of contentment.

I'm Not So Bad

I'm not so bad...really.

I'm the ultimate Libra, which means that I am (was) a terrific People Pleaser-- in my younger days anyway.  Most post-menopausal women don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks, which is wonderful.  Aging is very liberating.  But that doesn't mean that there isn't a crumb or a shadow of that People Pleaser hiding somewhere in the dark corners of me.  It raises its ugly cloying little head once in a while, but I try to beat it back into submission.

For instance, I love this, people who are new to witchcraft and the whole thing, will write me and say, "I'd love to know where to start, can you help me-- can you teach me-- can you give me some pointers-- can you mentor me--"  Ummm-- no.  I don't have time to mentor anyone.  But the weird thing was that I would give them a list of books they could start with but-- AND HERE IS THAT LIBRA THING-- I thought it would be very egotistical and conceited to tell them to start with My Books.

This happened several times, until I stopped, and said, "Wait a minute!! What's not right with this picture?"

"Start with my books!"...that felt good.

Of course, this isn't the information they wanted anyway, a few of these people were actually looking for someone to learn for them, or for someone to spend a great deal of time writing things out, explaining things, cataloguing things, feeding the information to them in a way they could digest it-- and hey, I already did this-- it's called My Books.  (I love this.)

I use to think that when I was out and about in public, if I were standing in line or something with someone who obviously disapproved of me, or was just being uppity and stereotypically mid-western'ish, it was my duty-- MY LIBRA DUTY-- to change their minds, to make them like me.  How crazy!  How much time and energy did I waste in 56 years making an effort to get some asshole to smile.

My husband is so opposite (Scorpio-- holy crap).  Scorpio will not mess with people who give weird pucker-mouthed I-don't-like-you-I-am-superior-to-you looks.  A Scorpio will look them right in the eye and say, "What the fuck's your problem?"  I love this too-- they are always jolted into reality, caught off guard, shocked.  It rattles their little pristine world and reminds them that the universe is full of diversity, and some of this diversity may wind up in their face if they don't cut out the holier-than-thou act.

I'm kind of lazy (LIBRA), but I can work my ass off when it counts. So this kind of all gets balanced out in the end. I'm doing pretty good here (she sez as she eyes the counter full of dirty dishes).

I'm spacey.
I'm forgetful.
I'm a hoarder of cats.
I talk to plants.
I hate to cook.

I've never understood why, once you've thoroughly dusted and cleaned a room, it wouldn't stay that way forever.  It's suppose to.  This should be a universal unwritten rule.

I don't do laundry-- grudgingly my own, when necessity stands up on its hind legs and howls.  And surprisingly, I do Joe's laundry-- I generally don't do any man's laundry, they're on their own.  Doing a man's laundry for 30 years would be like having a child who never learned to do their own laundry. Blech, who would want that? (It tickles Joe that I do his, which I find funny.)

If I'm lonely in the middle of the night, I will wake my husband up to talk to me (never mind that he works 10 hour days welding).  I've also been known to do this if he's trying to catch a nap during the day.  Maybe this is a sub-conscious retaliation for getting up at 2am to fix him something to eat when he gets home from work, I'm not sure, I'm still working on the logic of this.

I eat chocolate candy bars for breakfast.

Once in a while, I will drink out of the orange juice jug, or those large liters of pop and sit it back in the fridge, guiltily wiping my mouth with the back of my hand-- I know, this is rather disgusting, isn't it.

Many moons ago, I got caught standing in the kitchen eating a bowl of chocolate ice cream at 7 o'clock in the morning.  I looked down, and there was the little bugger, rubbing sleep out of her eyes, all pink in Dr. Denton's.  I hushed the little intruder back to bed, swearing her to secrecy for life.

But I'm not so bad...really.
